YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Our class is participating in the "Pull Tab Collection" for the Ronald McDonald House!
With pull tabs from aluminum cans, a little goes a long way! We collect pull tabs, and the money raised from recycling them is placed in the Family Fund at the Ronald McDonald House, which helps the House do special things for the families who stay with them.
Class 2008-2009 collected pull tabs weighing 20lbs.!!!
Class 2009-2010 collected pull tabs weighing 27 lbs.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Class 2010-2011 collected 29 lbs.!
World Vision
Class 2008-2009 and Class 2009-2010 collected pennies to buy a goat to help those less fortunate.
Class 2010-2011 collected enough money to buy 2 goats!
The story of the 2 goats the children were able to purchase for World Vision continued to touch other people’s hearts! A friend of mine donated $75.00 and her company
QCP (Quality Care Products) matched the total amount resulting in 6 goats being purchased for World Vision! Kindness grows! 20 children made a huge difference by bringing in their coins and inspiring other people to donate alsoJ.
Deb Wilson has spent the last 5 years making 5 week long trips to Cambodia to teach the children English. She came into our classroom and shared her slideshows with us. We sent postcards to the children in Cambodia. (2010)
"Soo Sdey" is hello in Cambodia.
2011- Deb spoke to all Highland 2nd Graders. Each child wrote a letter and signed a Valentine for Deb to take with her on her trip to Cambodia to give to her students! Upon her return she gave us over 100 letters from her students in Cambodia!
