There was a big change starting on Jan. 12th with our classroom discipline system. We are keeping the card system with a little "tweak" in it. You will only be seeing a behavior/work habits chart if your child receives a pink card for the day. The only difference being that depending on the severity of the issues that are circled on the chart is whether or not your child will be going down to the office to talk to Mr. T, have just the chart sent home, or for me to call you at your home. Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the problems I was having with a lot of charts going home each day!

Nice job - 22 children turned in their December "Soar with Eagles" calendar! We read a total of 10.204 minutes this month. Thanks for reading with your child nightly.
The January "Soar with Eagles" calendar will be due by Thursday, February 2nd.

Your child will need to make sure that he/she returns their library book on Thursday, February 2nd. Your child will be getting a biography book to do a book report on. It will be due on Thursday, March 1st. Directions will be coming home in the Jan. 30th homework packet.

All addition and subtraction Math facts from 0-18 should have been memorized by December. This will definitely help your child is solving the 2 digit addition fact problems. We started 2 digit addition facts with the partial-sums algorithm method back in December A paper was sent home on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and in Jan. 3rd's homework packet explaining how this algorithm works. Later on during the school year we will be carrying the ones over to the tens column.-

During the week of Feb. 6th, I will start teaching 2 digit subtraction regrouping. It will be taught the same way that you learned how to borrow when you were in grade school. So if your child knows his/her facts memorized, this will be a lot easier for him/her.

Please make sure that your child does his/her Raz-Kids web site at least once per week, especially on Tuesday night's when it will be assigned. The next morning, I bring up the class roster on the computer for the active and inactive students for the week. It will tell me the last time that your child logged in for the previous week. If need be, do this web site and the Math Facts Dash game on the weekends and that way it is done for the week. In that way, if you have a busy week ahead of you, then you'll have no need to worry about it!

Please go to the
www.everydaymathonline.com website and especially the McGraw Hills Fast Facts Game too. This will be a Thursday night homework assignment for most weeks. You need to go from the Internet Explorer website in order to get this website. Your child's log-in and password is on the class list sheet which is inside your child's white binder. Please print out the certificate when your child does a math quiz too. I would be more than happy to have your child place their certificate on the outside of their locker. If your printer isn't working, you can always write it on a sheet of paper too!
I also have this website listed under Links to Math Web sites.

Please make sure that your child does his assigned homework every night and turns it in the next day.

You may also go to my website (which is listed on the front of your child's binder) and do other web links too!
