Ms. Huey Advises both the yearbook and newspaper and teaches photojournlism
which is a class students should take as a prerequisite course to be on the
yearbook and newspaper staffs. Applications for the yearbook and newspaper
staffs are available each year in January with interviews in late January and
decisions for the new staff usually made by the beginning of February.
Both the Wyandotte yearbook and The Student Prints newspaper are financially
independent publications of Northview high school. The newspaper has 4 pages
each issue in full color and is distributed every 3 weeks with 12 issues each
year. The yearbook is about 300 pages of full color. Both the Wyandotte and
The Student Prints have won numerous national and local awards. The Wyandotte
has won the First Class Award from The National Scholastic Press Association,
Gold Medalist Award from The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, and the
First Place Award with Best Continuation of Theme from The American Scholastic
Press Association. The Student Prints has also won the First Class award from
the NSPA, the Gold Medalist Award from the CSPA, the First Place Award from
the ASPA and the highest honor that the Quill and Scroll awards, the George H.
Gallup Award.
