MEMBERSHIP: Membership in the Drama Club is contingent on
participation in the current production. "Participation" includes acting,
technicians, ushers, understudies, publicity . . . etc. And we have
expanded our season so that we are working on something 8 months
out of nine so there are plenty of opportunities to participate.
Only current members are eligible to participate in Drama Club activities
like field trips, cast parties, etc . . . .
CASTING: There are rarely enough parts to go around. Not everyone
who auditions gets roles. That means there will be understudies and
"chorus" people. Anyone not coming to rehearsals, goofing off, not
learning their lines, and generally not participating in the production
experience can and will be dismissed from the cast and an understudy
will assume the role. (Understudies will be given parts of departing
cast members at the directors' discretion.)
The directors are ultimately responsible for the direction and casting of
the Drama clubs productions. Please see FAQs for more details on
casting.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsal time and duration vary. We start with 1 1/2
hours and lengthen the time as we near opening. Rehearsals generally start
at 2:30 or 3:00 except where there are conflicts with the director's other
obligations. It is important to check the rehearsal calendar and pay
attention to announcements, both on this site and at rehearsal.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance is mandatory. If you are in school you must
be at rehearsal. If you are not in school and not contagious (ie: you had
a Dr or dentist appt), you are to be at rehearsal. Attendance of all cast
members at each rehearsal is vital to the success of the production. TO
BE EXCUSED from a rehearsal you must SPEAK WITH Miss Bennett (in person,
no notes and don't send messages with your friends -- these will be
considered unexcused).
Any cast member with three unexcused absences will be dismissed.
Any cast member with 6 absences (excused or unexcused) may be
dismissed at the director's discretion.
ATTIRE: Old comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in and
won't expose anything (flesh, undergarments, etc) to those observing
the rehearsals. NO SHORT SKIRTS!!!! NO MIDRIFF TOPS!!!! Keep in mind that
stages are dusty and you may have to sit on the floor, climb over something,
etc... do not wear clothing that is "delicate" or special.
BRING TO EVERY REHEARSAL: Script, music, pencil (not pen), small
notebook
Any questions regarding these policies should be directed to Miss Lisa
Bennett. She can be reached via email (click on icon at top of page) or
by phone at 330-841-2316.
