Tonight (3/21) we will perform the Carnival of the Animals for the book fair. Please have your child come to my classroom (room 115 in the upper hall) no later than 7:30 p.m. I will help them add to the clothes they will be wearing and will walk them down to the gym. Please be seated in the gym ready to watch the show at 8 pm and cheer on all of the children!
(3/21)
Hi Parents and students,
In reading, we are comparing story elements in small groups. We are also practicing for the Ohio Achievement Assessment. Students are reviewing prefixes and suffixes for the next few weeks.
In math, we are ready to move on to chapter 23 this week. We will continue studying geometry in this unit. There are several fun and educational web sites on this subject from the "pink page".
In Social Studies, we have been learning about our state, local, and federal governments. The class will visit some local web pages to learn more about what services Perry Township provides to its residents. Both the math and the social studies text can go home with your child any time you wish, just please have them bring it back to class the next day.
In science, we are continuing a unit of study that includes animal habitats, adaptations, and classification. We have finished classification and will have a short quiz this week. A study guide will be coming home with details.
There are many ways you can help your child at home:
1. Take your child to the library for reading materials, including nonfiction selections related to science and social studies topics that we are studying.
2. Allow your child some practice time on the computer, either from the links on my teacher page, or from the Whipple Favorites.
3. Check your child's weekly homework papers and assist when needed.
4. Read with and to your child daily for at least 15 minutes.
