Grade 6

The Fall of The Roman Empire

At the end of your Fifth Grade History studies, you saw the
collapse of the Roman Empire. As we begin the Sixth Grade History textbook,
we will pick up after the fall of Rome. Let’s start with a review of why
Rome
fell.

There were many reasons for the fall of Rome. Some were political, some
were cultural, some were social, some were military and some were economic.
During the first week of this project, research these five areas and find
examples for each of these reasons. Then compose your findings into a short
report in complete paragraphs. You should have 7 paragraphs:
Introduction
Political Reasons
Cultural Reasons
Social Reasons
Military Reasons
Economic Reasons
Conclusion
You will have one class period to type your report. You will have to decide
if you need to do some homework before that class or if you will be able to
type on the spot. I would strongly suggest that you come to class with a
final draft, ready to be typed.

You may add clip art or pictures from the internet if time permitsm but you
must keep your report to one page. Your completed report will be turned in
for a grade in Social Studies and Language Arts, so give it your best effort.

There are links below to help you. You are also welcome to Google on your
own.

When you finish, proofread one more time. Then print to the Duplexer if you
are on 2 pages or to the AR printer if you are on one.

Then, you are welcome to continue looking at Ancient Rome websites. You are
also welcome to work in Mavis Beacon--lessons.

Happy Thanksgiving!
