One of the underlying messages of THE WITCH OF BLACKBIRD POND is learning to
accept people for who they are, not prejudging them, and working toward
understanding rather than persecution. Coincidentally enough, your current
religion chapter discusses the issue of justice as it applies to the way we
treat one another. Catholic social teaching says, “The Catholic Church
proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person
is the foundation of a moral vision for society.“

It will be your job to research one of several charitable organizations which
serves people in our world and upholds the idea that all human life is
sacred. You will be able to choose your organization from a list, but no more
than two people per homeroom may research the same organization and you may
not choose the same organization as the person sitting next to you in the
Computer Lab.
You will be using a worksheet which asks specific questions about the
organization. Fill in as much as you can find on the internet and add
anything you think is important but not listed on the worksheet.
Once the worksheets are complete, you will be using PowerPoint to share the
information you found about your organization with your classmates.
• Use as many slides as you need to present the information—ballpark
about 15
• Choose fonts, colors, and animations carefully
• You are welcome to use logos and photos from the websites you used to
do your research.
• Your name, homeroom and number belong on the first slide
• A list of all the websites you used or consulted belongs on the final
slide
