What if my child cannot make a rehearsal?

Because we have such limited rehearsal time, we hope
parents/students make every effort possible to ensure that
students be at every rehearsal. However, we know there are many
special circumstances. If your child cannot make rehearsal, send
in a note as soon as possible to Mr. Gardner and let him know.

My child loves to sing. What can he/she join?

If your child is in grade 5 or above above, he/she can join the
school choir (The Vocal Ensemble). More information can be found
on the VE link on this website. If your child is younger than 5th
grade, he/she can still sing in music class and for the K-4
Christmas musicals. Occassionally, Mr. Gardner will choose
younger students to sing as the Liturgical Choir
during Wednesdaym liturgies. Don't worry, there's plenty
opportunity to sing at this school!

Can I volunteer to help out the music program?

We are always looking for volunteers to helps with various
aspects. The biggest help we are looking for are parents to
assist in our spring musical. There are many different jobs we
need to get covered. Outside of the musical, there are a few
other options. Contact Mr. Gardner if you would like to
help or have any questions.

What is the OMEA competition?

The OMEA competition, or Ohio Music Educators Association, is a
music festival created to honor Ohio music students for the work
that they have accomplished throughout a school year. The OMEA
Solo/Ensemble competition is strictly for students in grades 7
and 8. These students (instrumental or vocal) prepare a piece to
perform in front of an adjudicator and get ranked. The score and
feedback they receive from this judge gives them a good
indication of elements of music that they need to work on in
order to be ready to perform at the high school level. Performing
at the OMEA Solo/Ensemble competition is looked upon as an honor.
Many St. Veronica students have participated in this event and
have performed very well - proving that their talent and hard
work has paid off and that they can continue to achieve great
things when they move on to perform music at the high school
level.
