UPDATED 05/25/12
The additional assignment for Chapter 10 includes the Chapter 10 Practice
Test(now finally posted on the Honors Chemistry Handouts page) and the Chapter
10 section 3 Interpreting Graphics also posted there. The A4 class today is to
turn in what completed work they have at the end of the period. The Chapter
9/25 test will be completed on Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Please remember to
review and study for this.

For the A4 Class, you are to start work on the Chapter 10 Guided Reading and
Study Work Sheet on the Honors Chemistry page. If you finish it, work on the
Chapter 10 Practice Problems Work Sheet. Turn in what work you have completed
at the end of the period. The test for Chapters 25 and 9 is postponed until
Monday.

The test for Chapters 25 and 9 will be Wednesday/Friday May 16/18 2012. The
homework assigned for these two chapters will be due at the time of the test.
Everyone is reminded that the term paper was due May 8 and your present grade
reflects whether or not I have seen your paper.

Change of Plan: We will be studying Chapter 25 for the next week. The test
will probably be next week. The assignment for the chapter is the two Chapter
25 worksheets on the Chemistry Handouts page. I will be adding the Chapter 25
Practice test to that before the end of the week. We will return to Chapter 9
after testing for Chapter 25.

As there is an intercession study skills program at our school next week I am
allowing work to be turned in via email through Wednesday December 14 2011.

As I want all students to complete their term papers on time, the report of
the Finding the Density of Two Types of Coins laboratory will be due after
Thanksgiving break. You will be expected to turn in a joint effort of you and
your partner that includes a description of what you did to take your
measurements, a copy of your data table and graphs and answers to the
conclusion questions on the instruction sheet. You may look up the density of
the coins on line so you can calculate your percent error. The completed
report needs to emailed or brought to my by Thursday December 1 2001.

Only one person in my A4 class bothered to show up to class today prepared to
to the Density lab. Therefore those that did not come prepared received an
appropriate permanent grade. This will be applied to the B1 class as well if
they come to class as prepared as the A4 class. The A4 class, if they come
prepared Monday November 14, will attempt the lab at that time.

The Chapter 5 homework assignment is problems 1-94 plus the standardized test
prep questions. In addition you need to complete the Chapter 5 Practice test
and the Practice Problems handouts on the Chemistry handouts page. You may
print the pages at home or just turn in the answers. All home work will be due
when we take the Chapter 5 test before Thanksgiving.

We will attempt complete the Finding the Density of Two Types of Coins
Laboratory exercise on Wednesday/Thursday November 09/10 2011. The
instructions have be posted on the Honors Chemistry Handouts page in case you
have mislaid your instructions.
Because I may have had a problem with my email, the term project subject
assignment is due this week. That is: as soon as you can get it to me.

All term projects are due on Tuesday November 22 2011. By Friday November 4 I
need an email from each student stating what subject they are writing about.
If you have already turned in your paper you get an automatic 100 for this
assignment.

After reviewing the results of the Symbol/Name Test for the B1 class and
deciding that getting a B on this test is really not an adequate reflection
the necessary knowledge of the elements for this course (especially when there
were eight extra credit questions on the test) all students who did not get an
'A' on the test must retake the test between now and Wednesday September 21
2011. You may not use class time for the retake. You may test before school,
during my planning period or during lunch. I arrive at school at 0630. If you
want to improve your 'A' you may also retake the test and keep the higher of
the two grades.

The Symbol/Name test is scheduled for Thursday/Monday September 8/12 2011.
Chapter 3 homework will be due then. All students in my B1 class were reminded
that each are required to have a scientific calculator for class. This will be
checked on Thursday September 8 2011. The A4 students also must meet this
requirement by Friday September 9 2011. You may not use another student's
calculator during a test nor may you use a computer's calculator program
during a test.

The next test will be over the names and symbols of the elements on the
Periodic Table. You are responsible for elements 1-86. You can earn extra
credit on the test for elements 87-112. The test is tentatively scheduled for
the week of Labor Day.
The Chapter 3 homework will be problems 1-108 plus some extra problems for
converting from Fahrenheit temperature to Celsius and back and from Fahrenheit
to Kelvin and back.

The Chapter 1 and 2 Test will be Thursday/Friday August 18/19 2011. Homework
will be due at that time.

All students need to review algebra operations. You will have quizzes on this
subject all during the year. Your textbook assignment is to read chapters one
and two and complete the Review Assessments at the end of each chapter. The
assignment will be due when you take the Chapters 1 & 2 Test next week.
