First grade is my passion and I absolutely love being here at Prairie Vale
where they have the best first graders around!
I have three amazing children who also attend Deer Creek schools. My oldest,
Gunnar, is a freshman this year. This was his second summer to spend 3 weeks
in Zambia, Africa where he worked with the children in a village called
Lasaka and helped build a structure that will be used as a headquarters and
office area for missions. He is in the DCHS Marching Band and Track and loves
to run…not sure where he got that but it wasn’t from his mom! My oldest
daughter, Chandler, is in the 8th grade and is in Competitive Cheer. She is
also in track. She had an opportunity to go on her second mission trip this
summer to Kansas City where she worked with children and fell in love with
the little ones that she was there to minister too. My youngest daughter is
Baustyn. She is our clown. She is in 3rd grade here at PV. She keeps me busy
with indoor/outdoor soccer and horseback riding.
I have played volleyball every since the 7th grade and played all the way
through college so this is definitely one of my loves. I also enjoy going to
all my kid’s sporting events and look forward to going to the DC football
games to watch Chandler cheer and Gunnar march!
I am Texas girl who lived half my life in Austin and the other half in Fort
Worth. I am a Dallas Cowboy fan and have been since I was a little girl. In
fact we spent each Thanksgiving at the Cowboys Stadium watching the game! I
am also a Longhorn fan…Yes, I said it, A Longhorn fan!
I came to Oklahoma to attend college at SNU on a volleyball scholarship and
received both my BS and MA in Early Childhood. I taught at the SNU School for
Children while working on my masters. I then went to teach first grade at
James L. Dennis and was the first teacher to be hired at Crossings Christian
School where I went from teaching only 5 first graders the first year to
having a full class of 18 by the time I left five years later. I took a break
to open my own business in the food industry and found that being your own
business owner is not always everything it is cracked up to be. Working 20
hour days 7 days a week was not what I needed while having 3 small children.
However, it was a life experience I wouldn’t change. It stretched me and made
me realize that teaching really was my calling. As I was closing my doors of
my store I was lead to an awesome opportunity to teach here at Prairie Vale
and have now been here for five years. As I said, teaching is truly my
passion and I enjoy the excitement each day brings. I feel it is a privilege
to be such a big part of a child’s life and pray each day that I make choices
that will affect your child in the most positive way possible. I will always
strive to treat your child the way I so desperately want my own children to
be treated and will work hard to grow them to be the best all around student
they can be!
I look forward to an awesome year!
