Dear Parents,
Your children have been learning about 3-D shapes. We are doing great with cubes and cones but
cylinders and spheres are tricky. We made up a little chant to help. "Cylinder is a soda can and sphere is
a ball." I also encourage parents to reinforce this skill at home with the many examples of both shapes
around the house.
Cylinder- soda can, soup can, paper towel roll, many trash cans, toilet paper roll, etc
Sphere - baseball, soccer ball, orange, many cereal pieces, etc.
As you see these shapes, point them out to your child or ask him/her what shape it is. They'll have
these down in no time as well. Thanks!
