Can my child bring a water bottle to school?
Yes, and it is encouraged.
Can my child bring a snack to school?
Yes, please keep these snacks healthy and finger foods.
What is Book Advertising?
Book Advertising is a 2 minute commercial or report on a
book that your child has read.
When will my child do their Book Advertising?
Your child will be assigned a specific due date with ample time
to prepare the report.
When will my child go to the library?
Our scheduled library time is 11:00 A.M. on Wednesdays. Our
entire class will go at this time. However, if your child
finishes his/her book before our regularly scheduled time he/she
may go to the library to check out another book.
What time will my child go to the computer lab?
Our class will visit the computer lab 2 times a week. Our
schedule: Monday at 11:00 A.M. & Fridays at 9:30 A.M.
What does my child do while you are in the computer lab?
We will do many different activities while we visit the lab. For
example, students take AR tests, work on math and reading
activities through Compass, visit educational websites as a
class, play educational games, ect.
Will second graders have homework?
Yes, see the homework section of the web site.
How many AR points does my child need to attend the celebration?
Each student has personal reading goal which is set according to
his/her individual reading level. The teacher and student meet to
develop this personal goal. Children can take AR tests on books
they have read themselves, books you read to them or books you
have read with them.
Will second graders be going on any field trips?
We have two field trips a year. In the fall, we visit the zoo
following our Science study of animal classifications. Our second
field trip is in the spring and is geared to our study of
pioneers and early Oklahoma history.
