Should I count my math class from 8th grade if it was a HS class?

This is a family decision because an 'A' will get factored into
the students GPA. However, sometimes it helps the GPA and
sometimes it actually lowers the GPA by the time they reach
12th grade.

What classes have proven to help lift a students ACT?

In Deer Creek, our students who score above 30 take Calculus, AP
Chemistry, and AP Biology. Many of our students scoring 30 or
above also add AP English, AP Physics, and/or AP Foreign
Language. AP curriculum makes a difference in the ACT score.

What assistance does DCHS offer for students who struggle in a subject?

DCHS wants all students to be successful in their academic
pursuits. Students who are struggling may seek tutoring through
the high school, specialized class placement, or modified
scheduling to meet their needs. Families need to seek assistance
from the counselor so that all options can be evaluated. DCHS
uses Odyssey High School Curriculum which correlates to
state standards. The courses can be taken online which allows
for multiple opportunities to review a challenging topic. Deer
Creek is commited to implementing strong 21st century curriculum
that meets student needs.

What can we do if my child failed a course?

Credit recovery is available through DCHS. The district also
has a policy that will allow limited access to complete 1 or 2
courses online. However, no credit will be given if the proper
procedures and forms are not followed. Students must grant
approval before enrolling in any credit recovery options.
Please see the counselor to begin the process.
