As a teacher, I feel it is not only important to teach my
students about Art and all the elements that encompass art but also to
prepare them for life after high school. If that means college bound or
preparing for the work place there are certain skills that will help make
their choice after high school a success. I feel that it is very important
for the students to know that all assignments are given for a reason.
Assignments may be given as a stepping stone to the next project, a skill
that needs to be learned or to help them to see that they can have success
with hard work. Because of this I will not accept a zero on any assignment.
ZAP, Zero's Aren't Possible. In daily, life after graduation, there will be
things that they don't want to do or don't see the value of either on the
job or in college. If it is something that is required of them on the job
then their boss will expect them to do all of the work, just as I expect
them to do all of the lessons if they want a grade from the class. If a
student is missing any assignment at the end of the block I do not give them
a passing grade until all work is turned in. When all work is complete I
make sure that the grade change is made on their transcript. Students that
keep up with their work and turn in all projects have nothing to worry
about.
It is my objective to help the student realize that all work is
important and that doing what is expected of them is important in high
school just like it is on the job. With your support I am sure we will make
sure that our kids are successful in school as well as in the workplace.
Thank you,
