November 30, 2009
Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have a
busy week ahead of us! Please don't forget to call the office
(255-6530) if you are interested in chaperoning our field trip to
the Chisholm Train Museum on December 15th from 9:00-1:30. We
need a head count by November 30th. Your cost to enter is $4.00
per adult. Don't forget to bring your lunch and a drink! The
Spelling Bee will be next Monday, December 7. I will be sending
out more information later in the week.
This week in reading we are working on Lesson 14. We
will be reading an expository nonfiction text, “A Drop of
Water”. The comprehension strategies we will be focusing on are
cause and effect and using graphic organizers. Please reread the
text with your child Tuesday night. I encourage every all
students to read at home. We have numerous students who have
reached their AR goal already!
This week in spelling we are studying words with three
various endings. We will be working on numerous activities
throughout the week to prepare students for the test on Friday.
In language this week we will be learning about
possessive nouns. Students will be working on various activities
throughout the week to better their understanding of possessive
nouns. We will also briefly look at pronouns and antecedents.
Next week we will explore pronouns and antecedents more in
depth.
STAY WARM THIS WEEK!
