I began teaching in 1976 and have taught kindergarten and first grade. I
received my Master's of Library and Information Studies degree from the
University of Oklahoma in 2000 and have been librarian at Horace Mann
Elementary school since 1998.
I enjoy helping students find books that they can read and
enjoy and helping parents and former students with reference questions
that they have or in just finding a special book that they remember.
Our mission of the Horace Mann Library Media Program is to assist students
in the development of skills necessary for independent life-long learning.
Emphasis is placed on the appreciation of literature, the enjoyment of
recreational reading, as well as reading for information. It is our
mission to meet students' and teachers' educational needs today, as well as
to anticipate tomorrow's needs. Horace Mann's library Media Center
instructs students to use resources through print and electronic information
sources to successfully apply skills that will enable them to locate,
select, evaluate, interpret, and communicate information.
