This week in reading we are working on -or words and words that end with s/es (plural). In writing we are
continuing to work on using endmarks and capital letters correctly. In math we are working on measuring
time to the quarter hour as well as in days/weeks, etc. Math homework will be planning and creating the
project for the 100thDay of School! As always, your child can work on the triangle math fact cards when

that project is finished!

Upcoming Dates:

Fri., Jan. 27, Hat Day (25 cents)

Fri., Feb. 3, No School (Professional Development for Teachers)

BOOK LOGS…The next book log is due NEXT WEEK. This is the ladder book log. Your child should have read at least
100 books by now.

Attendance incentive this nine weeks is a cookie party. So far we have 6 stickers on our cookie.

FRUIT LOOPS…We are in need of 3 bags of Fruit Loops (off brand is just fine) for one of
our 100thDay of School activities. If you are able to help with this, please send one to
school by this Friday, Jan. 27. Thanks so much!

100thDAY OF SCHOOL…I can’t believe it’s already that time! We will be celebrating on Wed., Feb. 1st
(which is next week). Please look for more info on the note I sent home!

HOMEWORK is on the back of this sheet.  For now only sight words and some math homework will be sent.
Please initial each day that your child has completed the work/study and return this sheet daily in the STAR
binder.  (Usually parents just leave it in the binder.)  Remember if you lose it, homework is also listed on my
website.  **I will collect these each Monday and file them.  Please help your child remember to bring it back to
school.  Thank you!

Unity

By Cleo V. Swarat

I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young childs mind
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!
And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!
