I began my public teaching career in 1999 after receiving a Bachelors of
Early Childhood Education from Southern Nazarene University. I have taught
kindergarten, first and third grades. I am married to a director of middle
school band and have three children of my own, ages 16, 14, and 10. We
juggle various school and extra-curricular activities including band, choir,
Bible quizzing, baseball and piano. Let's just say there is never a dull
moment! We have a dog named Lizzie who is very energetic and keeps us on our
toes. I enjoy reading, word puzzles, puzzles, candles and bubble baths.
First grade is my calling. My goal is to teach children to think and feel
for themselves enabling them for life-long learning and responsible living.
I love to watch young children grow and mature as they learn to read books,
write stories, and work math problems. When they discover a new concept, my
heart explodes!
My classroom is a safe environment that encompasses learning through many
different styles. I teach through music and movement, games, laughter, and,
of course, hard work. I am eager to work with you, parents, to help your
little ones become the best they can be by setting high expectations and
guiding them to greater achievements. Character is just as important in my
classroom as reading, writing and arithmetic. Character traits (i.e.
responsibility, respect, self-discipline) are taught and practiced
throughout the year.
Thank you for sharing your children with me!
