HomeworkANY PAPER THAT THE CHILD IS DISPLEASED WITH MAY BE CORRECTED, SUBMITTED, AND AVERAGED FOR A BETTER GRADE THE FOLLOWING DAY. Please do not wait if you feel a conference is needed. Call me at home or write an e-mail, and I will return the call as soon as possible. This can be incorporated with the PARENT PORTAL. If you have not done so, please stop by the office for signing information. All assignments are given ORALLY after instruction and WRITTEN on the whiteboard daily. It is the child's responsibility to write each assignment in the AGENDA regularly. Don't forget the PTA meeting coming real soon. Charge for the dinner/meeting? A new TOY. What a way to help someone in need... and get some great FOOD in the bargain. Do not forget to go to STUDY ISLAND as it will be open. It is AWESOME. WOW! Where has the time gone? All six classes will be doing a practice writing test next week in preparation for the BIGGIE that comes in February. The same prompt will be used throughout Mustang and will be read by different teachers other than their own. We will not have much time for preparation because of its short-time announcement from the administration. Key: PLAN. THINK. WRITE. Time is not limited, but is usually done within 2 hours. Only the best handwriting skills are to be used, of course. Reading: Does the name JANE GOODALL ring a bell? This short aritcle is awesome. Great food for thought. Workbook pages 83 - 90 will be included. REMEMBER: FIVE (5) BOOKS ARE TO BE READ AND TESTS TAKEN PER NINE WEEKS. One of those will be a BIOGRAPHY with a project to follow. English: We will be working on a written autobiography leading to a biography book report. Spelling: Before Thanksgiving, we will be testing on months, days, numerals, etc. After the break, we will work on UNIT 11 in the text. Pages are written on the board and will be in the agendas Monday. Science: . We are beginning the animal environment unit. Workbook and/or worksheets will compliment this unit. New VOCABULARY words should be written w/ definitions and placed in the child's folder. Math: DIVISION is following multiplication. Daily work is assigned either through the text or with extra practice being done on worksheets. Take a few minutes DAILY to do quick reviews of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. This brief review will pay great dividends in the long run. SPEAK with your child when traveling, eating, watching comercials, and just one-to-one time to see what is on tap this week. Please challenge your child to mini moments of practice while in a car, at the table, during commercials, etc. Look at car tags, multiply first and third numerals, add or subtract the numerals and create interesting problems. Use of PLAYING CARDS will be helpful/FUN activities with Ace as 1 through 9... two players laying 3 to 5 cards down...add, subtract, multiply, expand, use exponents, and other fun activities will be used. (Eventually, we will use cards to increase our fraction skills.) Create largest or smallest possible numeral with the numerical cards, or use as decimal places through the thousandths' place to locate the least possible numeral. Also, playing dice can be used in a similar manner. Simply create rules for your family. Use one to five dice and roll for first player. Select two or three numerals and multiply or divide by one, two, or three digits. SOCIAL STUDIES Please write me a note that I am writing this information for you and your child. I really need to know that I am doing this for you. Either write me at school: coblef@mustangps.org or at home: fcoble@cox.net to let me know that I am not the only one reading my assignments. Thanks for your support. Mr. C |
