1. What material should be recorded on reading logs?

What material should be recorded on reading logs?

Parents should record books the students read independently. This may be 
library books, books you have at home, book order books, etc... Please do 
NOT record take home readers on the reading log. There is a specific take 
home reader log for these books.

How often should we turn in a reading log?

A student should turn in at least one reading log a month. Toward the end of 
the year students turn in reading logs more frequently due to their reading 
ability.

When does spelling start?

Spelling tests start at the beginning of the second nine weeks. The first 
nine weeks should be focused on learning sight words, reviewing consonants 
and vowels and decoding one syllable words.

How do I know if a book is too hard for my student?

If the student misses more than five words on the first page then the chosen 
book is too hard. Return it and find something on that student's level or 
you can take the opportunity to read the book to your student.

When is lunch and recess?

Lunch begins at 10:55 and ends at 11:15. Recess begins at 11:15 and ends at 
11:40. Tennis shoes are the best footwear for recess. Remember to send 
jackets when the weather gets chilly.
