About The Teacher

I earned my Bachelors of Early Childhood Education from Southern Nazarene
University in 1996. I taught critically ill & handicapped children at The
Children's Center hospital for two years before moving into public school
teaching. I have taught kindergarten, first and third grades.

I am married to Steven, a director of middle school band. In fact, we
celebrated our 20th anniversary this year! We have three children ages 19,
17, and 13. (Hmmm...I don't feel that old!) Our oldest son, Andrew, is a
sophomore at Southern Nazarene University this year majoring in Instrumental
Music Education with a minor in Missions. Our middle son, Jonah, is a senior
at Mustang High School. He plays trumpet, piano, bass guitar and sings. Our
youngest, Rebecca, is an eighth grader at Mustang North where she plays
percussion, piano, and softball. Steven and I are very proud of all three!

We juggle various school and extra-curricular activities including band,
choir, Bible quizzing, softball and piano. Let's just say there is never a
dull moment! We also have a dog named Lizzie who is very energetic and keeps
us on our toes. I enjoy reading, word puzzles, puzzles, candles and bubble
baths.

Mission For The Class

First grade is my calling. My goal is to teach children to think and feel
for themselves enabling them for life-long learning and responsible living.
I love to watch young children grow and mature as they learn to read books,
write stories, and reason through math principles. When they discover a new
concept, my heart explodes!

My classroom is a safe environment that encompasses learning through many
different styles. I teach through music and movement, games, laughter, and,
of course, hard work. I am eager to work with you, parents, to help your
little ones become the best they can be by setting high expectations and
guiding them to greater achievements.

Character is just as important in my classroom as reading, writing and
arithmetic. Character traits (i.e. responsibility, respect, self-discipline)
are taught and practiced throughout the year.

Thank you for sharing your children with me!
