What should I do if my child has a doctor's appointment during school?
Please let the office know as early as possible. You can also send a note
with your child so that I can have them ready. Please let me know if they
will be returning so that I will know if they need to take their work.
What if my child forgets to take their homework back to school?
I understand that it would be very easy for you to bring it to them. As
helpful as that would be for your child, I ask you to let them learn from
this lesson. We need to not always rescue them. They need to learn to
stand on their own.
What if my child cannot remember what they need to do for homework?
I encourage students to fill out their assignment books before leaving
school. I do encourage students to check with other students if they forget
something. I ask that students do not call me at home about assignments. If
they have a question about page numbers or what problems are to be
completed, they should check with a classmate. Parents, if you have a
concern that you have and need to get a hold of me, you can contact me at
school until 4 p.m. You can also contact me via e-mail at
ldarmstrong@sbcglobal.net. If it is an emergency, please feel free to
contact me at home. My number is in the school directory.
What if my child fails a test?
Please go over the test with your child. Help them understand what
happened. Did they tell you that they were having a test? How much time
did they spend on studying for the test? What can they do different next
time? I do give students at least three day notice before a test. This
does not apply to "pop quizzes."
What do I do if I notice that my child is falling behind in a subject?
Have him or her bring home the graded work daily. Look over their work.
Are they making careless mistakes or do they not understand the concept?
Encourage your child to bring his or her books home each evening (for the
subjects in question). Have them correct missed problems. Grades can change
quickly early in the 9 weeks. As the total number of points grows, the
grades will not fluctuate as much.
How do you grade my child's work?
Percentage 90%- 100% A,
80% - 89% B, 70% - 79% C, 60% - 69% D, 59% and below F.
What do I do if I want to drive on a Field Trip?
Field Trip drivers need to have had completed the Volunteer Packets and
taken the Virtus training that is provided by
the Tulsa Dioscese. Mrs. Brookshire will also need a current copy of your
drivers license and insurance verification. It is helpful to have all
information to the office a day or two before the Field Trip.
