Tentative Due Date 10-29-07
Assignment: You have three choices for your research topic.
Option 1: Historical events or people associated with your birth date
Option 2: A higher institution of learning, i.e. a college,
university, tech school, art school, etc.
Option 3: A hero
You will formulate a thesis about your topic and from that sentence identify
at least three subtopics for composition of well-developed paragraphs.
You will research your topic using library and computer source materials.
You will keep a source file of information. Information referred to in the
report must be high-lighted. These copied pages must have citation
information about the source written in the margin or on the back of the
copies. These copies will be placed at the back of the folder holding the
formal report.
You will use MLA format following the teacher’s verbal and written directions
given in class to write a report.
You will write a rough draft.
You will revise and edit your draft to create a final copy to be included in
a research project folder.
Illustrations, charts, diagrams, etc. may be included behind the report,
before the Works Cited page, but these forms do not count toward the required
number of report pages.
Requirements:
4-6 typed pages
Double-spaced
12 pt. font/Arial or Times New Roman
5 sources (minimum)
1 book
2 creditable Internet
1 reference
1 periodical
Form: Using the following order, arrange the report in a size-appropriate
folder or binder.
Title page
Outline
Report (4-6 pages)
Illustrations, if any
Works Cited page
Source copies (copies of resource pages with highlighting and
citation information)
Rough drafts of project pages (i.e. title page, outline, report,
works cited)
You will be graded on daily progress in class, the quality of the research
found, and overall quality of the final project. This grading includes but
is not limited to : use of sources, integration of research materials, and
the finished product.
It is imperative that you and your materials are in class each day!
Don’t forget. This work is the major Senior English project. It greatly
affects your grade. This project is a requirement for Senior English credit!
