DUE TO BEING OUT OF SCHOOL MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND WEDNESDAY, AND WITH THURSDAY, AS OF THIS WRITING, BEING A SHORTENED SCHEDULE BECAUSE OF ADVISORY, WE WILL HAVE THE CHAPTER 7 TEST ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 14.  COME TO CLASS PREPARED TO STUDY ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13.

THIS COMING WEEK OF DECEMBER  17 - 21 FINDS US FINISHING THE FIRST SEMESTER OF THE 2007 - 2008 SCHOOL YEAR.  WE WILL HAVE 9 WEEKS TESTS ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20 (EVEN HOURS 2ND, 4TH, AND 6TH) AND ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21 (ODD HOURS 1ST, 3RD, 5TH, AND 7TH).

THE NINE WEEKS TESTS WILL BE MADE UP OF QUESTIONS FROM YOUR PREVIOUS TESTS DURING THE SECOND NINE WEEKS (CHAPTERS 4, 5, 6, AND 7).  YOU WILL HAVE 25 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS OFF OF EACH CHAPTER TEST TO MAKE UP YOUR NINE WEEKS TEST FOR A TOTAL OF 100 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS.  EACH QUESTION WILL BE WORTH TWO (2) POINTS EACH FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF 200 POINTS.  THIS TEST IS WEIGHTED AT 20% OF YOUR TOTAL NINE WEEKS GRADE.  THE 20% IS DISCTRICT POLICY.

A CHANGE HAS BEEN MADE FOR THIS SECOND NINE WEEKS ONLY:  IF YOU EXEMPT THE NINE WEEKS TEST, THEN YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT.  YOU CAN STILL TAKE IT IF YOU DESIRE SO THAT IF YOUR GRADE ON THE TEST BOOSTS YOUR OVERALL GRADE, THEN I WILL COUNT IT.  IF IT DOES NOT BOOST YOUR GRADE AND YOU HAVE EXEMPTED THIS TEST, THEN IT WILL NOT COUNT AGAINST YOUR GRADE.  THIS IS A WIN/WIN SITUATION FOR YOU.  PLEASE CONSIDER IT.  IF YOU ARE EXEMPTING THIS NINE WEEKS TEST AND WANT TO TAKE IT TO SEE IF IT WILL HELP YOUR GRADE, THEN TELL ME NO LATER THAN THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19 SO I KNOW HOW MANY COPIES TO MAKE.  THAT WAY I WON'T BE WASTING PAPER.  THANKS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION ON THIS.

Sunday, December 30, 2007 - The new Second Semester Reading Schedule is now posted under the handouts section of the website.  I will provide a hard copy for your notebooks when we return on Monday, January 7, 2008.  Feel free to download a copy to look ahead and see where we are going.  Take note of the fact we will not do every chapter the second semester.  This will insure we make the most of the second semester while not sacrificing content for the AP World History Exam in May, 2008.

Hope your time off from school is going well for you.  Look forward to seeing you on Monday, January 7, 2008.

AP WH CLASSES ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY FOR THE AP WORLD HISTORY EXAM.  BECAUSE OF THE COMPLEXITY OF THIS PROCESS, WE ARE FOCUSING ON THIS IN OUR DAILY CLASSES INSTEAD OF GOING OVER THE TEXT OF THE CURRENT READING.  STUDENTS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO DO THE OUTLINING OF THAT NIGHT'S READING, AND SOME OF THE QUESTIONS THAT WILL APPEAR ON THE CHAPTERS 11 AND 16 TEST ARE THE DAILY QUESTIONS GIVEN AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS.  THERE WILL BE A GRAND TOTAL OF 70 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS ON THE CHAPTERS 11 AND 16 TEST.  THERE ARE NO VOCABULARY MATCHING OR TRUE/FALSE OR WHICH DOCUMENT? QUESTIONS.  THERE WILL BE 35 MULTIPLE CHOICE FROM CHAPTER 11 AND 35 FROM CHAPTER 16.  THIS WILL HELP IN THE PREPARATION OF TIME MANAGEMENT DURING THE ACTUAL AP WH EXAM SINCE THEY HAVE 70 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS TO DO IN 55 MINUTES.  OUR CLASS TIMES ARE 53 MINUTES IN LENGTH WHICH WILL PROVIDE A GOOD GROUND FOR THEM TO LEARN HOW TO PACE THEMSELVES IN THE ACTUAL TEST SETTING.
