The mission for the Advanced Placement World History class is to challenge
the student to go deeper in their understanding of World History through the
use of various reading techniques, learn the writing process for an
historical essay question, seeing change-over-time/continuity as well as
cause and effect, and comparison/contrast of historical events, people, and
places.
It is also desired for the student to take the AP World History Exam on
Thursday, May 15, 2008. Students who have a qualifying score of 3, 4,
or 5 can receive college credit from most state universities. Students
taking this exam desiring to go to a private college or university, can
usuaully earn credit with a qualifying score of a 4 or 5. Even if the
student does not get a qualifying score on the exam, they will have learned
important test taking skills and gone through a rigorous college-level
course that will ultimately prepare them for their college/university
experience.
