Everything you wanted to know about Mr. Engelhardt but were afraid to ask...

Mr. Engelhardt has taught at BMHS since 1984 and has been with the Canadian
and World Studies Department for much of that time, not only as a teacher but
as a former department leader. He graduated from the University of Toronto,
St. Michael's College in 1982 and then from the Faculty of Education in 1984.
Mr. Engelhardt has been involved with numerous Board committees in the
production of curriculum material and has co-authored several Ministry of
Education teaching profiles supplements.Mr. Engelhardt was also the managing
editor of the History of Alliston, produced by members of his OAC Canadian
History class in 1991.

A resident of Alliston since 1985, Mr. Engelhardt has coached local soccer
and baseball teams over the years and is an active golfer, badminton
enthusiast, and recent devotee of downhill skiing. Many students will also
know Mr. Engelhardt's wife, Janet, who is a founder and current coordinator
of the Alliston Ontario Early Years Centre (formerly "Rainbow Town")where
they may have played as "little tots" and begun their early childhood
education.

Last but not least, Mr. Engelhardt is a "stickler" about attendance and being
late to class. Poor attendance and showing up late on a continuing basis is
not acceptable behaviour and carries natural consequences. Please keep this
in mind as you become one of his students!

Mission For The Class

My ultimate goal, for all my students, is to ensure that they attain their
credits and develop a love of learning. The credo, "Those who forget the past
are doomed to repeat it", is an appropriate slogan for our classes for
without a knowledge of ourselves we become ships adrift in the ocean of time,
rudderless and marooned.

Furthermore, I hope students develop, if not a love of history, a respect for
the lessons that history can teach us.
