Welcome to the Ritz, Cawthra's 400-voice concert choir.

We believe it to be the largest high school choir in North America. We also strive to be considered one of the better high school choirs in North America. That, of course, depends on how hard you want to work. We shall see.

All Grade 9 RAP Music students are expected to participate. An invitation is extended to any other student in the school, and no audition is required. A good attendance record is expected throughout the year.

Notes of explanation are required for each absence, in advance if possible. Please avoid scheduling appointments which would conflict with rehearsals - regular attendance is important to the group's success.

Concert dress for the Ritz, AND Intermediate AND Senior Concert Band AND Wind Ensemble is as follows:

• Black Cawthra Music Sweater, with a "dress" white shirt or blouse with a collar

• black dress slacks or skirt (NOT black jeans, please)

• ladies: if skirt, black nylons please

• black shoes and socks. Dress black shoes please, NOT running shoes.

Information about our concert in April at Eden United Church: Cawthra Sings !

For those who are new this year, or for those who need a reminder, here is the basic info. for our concert at

Eden United on April 6th, 2010 (Tuesday) at 7:30 pm.

We leave the school on school buses at 12:30 pm, rehearse at the church from about 1:30 til 5:30. You are then free

for dinner (Meadowvale Town Centre across the street). Be back at the church ready to sing at 6:45 pm.

Concert starts at 7:30 - admission is a donation to the Eden Food Bank ($5. - $10. per person suggested - but whatever people are comfortable with is greatly appreciated)

You are responsible for your own ride home. I'm hoping that you will have lots of family and friends there who can get you home. The church is usually packed to overflowing - parents are advised to arrive early. Permission forms will be out in February.
