Welcome to my web page. This year is my twenty third year teaching and I
still LOVE teaching and very much enjoy teaching at Cawthra Park. This year I
add Psychology Anthropology and sociology to my schedule. An exciting fit
since my degree is in Biology and Psychology.
I grew up in Hamilton where I attended Westdale Secondary (as did a few other
members on the current Cawthra Park staff). Westdale is a high school as
similar to Cawthra as it gets. Egene Levy and Martin Short also attended, as
did a band named Teenage Head (though not while I was there). I studied
music, art and latin in addition to the regular subjects.
I have a Honours Bachelor of Sciences from McMaster University in Biology and
Psychology and a full minor in English. While in fourth year I worked for a
graduate student studying morbidity and mortality amongst hemodialysis
patients, worked as a counsellor at the local Sexual Education Clinic
and taught first year Psychology - while carrying a full course load and
researching.
My undergraduate thesis was entitled "Premedication and Preceived Control on
Stressful Out Patient Proceedures". This work was in a small way responsible
for the introduction of the drug Fentynal into common medical practice.
I am married to a chemist and have two girls, one in grade five and the
other in grade seven. The younger plays the flute and dances ballet, the
elder plays the violin and is busy with theory and the Halton Youth Chamber
Orchestra and they both swim; thus I am very busy at home.
Just like many of my students ... I find time to watch "HOUSE" and at least
one episode of "C.S.I." each week in addition to keeping informed
as to any relevant scientific and social scientific news. I keep my courses
as current and world relevant as I can.
NOTE: PLEASE CONTACT ME BY E-MAIL! I HAVE NO TELEPHONE IN MY OFFICE. ICON

I hope to nurture a love for the sciences and social sciences in as many of
my students as I can; by making the content tangible and employing humor.
