 For Homework

Note taking in the identify and give the significance style. This is another style of note taking that is very common in history. It helps to narrow down the focus of the information you write down and begins to organize that information in a way that you will need to use it. It should still be done in point form.

Identify:is where you would write down information that addresses the following kinds of questions- What happened? When and where did it happen? Who was involved? What significant details help to identify this event as different from similar events?

Significance:is where you would write down information that addresses the following kinds of questions- Why is the event important? What kind of impact did it have? How does it change something? Was it our first? Our best? What makes this event worth knowing about?

Read pages 20-22 and 36 on the Canadian battles of World War One (Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, Passchendaele). For each battle take notes using the identify and give the significance style.

Monday February 13- You will then have time to work on your outline and complete the weapons sheet in your package (page 16)

Tuesday February 14- We took up friday's questions and went over an example of an identify and give the significance note. We then began to watch The Killing Ground.
