Grade 3 This week we will be finishing our unit on Urban and Rural Communities. We will start looking at Pioneers and their lifestyle next. Their final project for this unit is a comparison of their community (Courtice) with that of another community from the North (Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut). They are to compare the population, the services, the modes of transportation, the recreational acitivties offered, and the natural resources. We will be discussing the due date as a class on Monday afternoon and students must have picked a Northern community by then. Due date for this project is Tuesday February 19th, 2008. Grade 4 In February we will be finishing our look at Canada and its regions. The class will be assigned a project this week that will take us into the middle of February. After this project we will start out Unit on Medieval Times. Project: a due date will be discussed in class on Monday Feb. 4th. Students, on Monday, must also have choosen a physical region of Canada and I will record them. 1. Choose a physical region in Canada. Provide a map indicating the physical region. 2. Describe the characteristics of that region. 3. What natural resources come from the region? 4. Are there any major waterways or particular land forms in the region? What is their significance? Due date is Tuesday February 19th, 2008. Pioneers The Grade 3's have started looking at pioneer life. We have talked about the Indians tribes of the time and and where they were located in Ontario. We are continuing on to look at pioneers next and their way of life, where they came from and their contributions. I will add links to websites about pioneers in the Links page. Medieval Times We have begun our unit and are looking at many aspects of life during this time. We have started a journal of things we have learned or questions that may come up. I have included in my Links page some interesting websites if you wish to take a look. Some are interactive and others are just informational sites. Enjoy!!
Mini-recherche Students have a mini research project to do in class. I have asked them to look of some information at home so they can work on their projects in class. This mini research project is due Tuesday May 27.
