Hello parents,
On October 10 students will be taking home an "Early Progress Report". This
report is designed to catch potential problems before they happen. It is too
soon in the year to be sending home marks, we have just barely started any
real assessment of what they have learned so far this year.
Most assessment in this class has been used to discover if there are areas of
weakness in what they would have been taught up and until this year, so the
marks will not count in the final tally.
The reports will contain general comments for most students, those who have
begun the year not showing signs of great problems ahead. If there is
something to worry about, it will be noted in the comments.
Learning skills to this point will be assessed generally, and the highest
comment at this point would be "good". I have not known the students long
enough to properly be able to assess whether their effort is "excellent".
That is a definate possibility for the first "real" report that will also
contain marks. On the other hand, if there is an obvious issue, such as
regularly incomplete homework, a "needs improvement" will be selected for
that particular learning skill.
I will continue to maintain this website as frequently as possible and will
help you help your students stay on top of assigment and classroom
events.
Parents - please ask your students to translate content of this
webpage and relate to me any questions you may have. I want to keep the site
"as French as possible" but would be happy to accomodate non French speaking
parents' interest in the content. Parents may contact me at my Peel District
School Board email address: alexandra.petersen@peelsb.com
If your students are looking to improve their reading and listening mark,
remind them to visit the bbc languages French page and to take the test
before starting on a course of study. The link to the site is also available
from a new icon on this page: Extra! Extraordinaire!
