About The Teacher

September 2006 Welcome back to Glenforest S.S.

My name is Ms. Habib and I teach classes in the Tech/arts department and am
also the coordinator of the IB program here at Glenforest S.S.

For those of you enrolled in my Tech Design, Fashion and Construction
classes I look forward to a wonderful year exploring the creative world of
design with you.

For those of you just starting in the pre-IB program, welcome to Glenforest.
Like you, this will be my first year with the IB program and I look forward
to beginning this journey with you. I am very pleased to have the
opportunity to work with the students, parents, staff and administration as
the IB Co-ordinator.

My own education and experiences reflect many of the aims of the IB mission
statement. My personal experiences are varied with direct and indirect
influences from across the globe including Germany, Britain, Lebanon,
Trinidad and the Baltic states. I attended grade school in Germany while my
father was working there at the University in Heidelberg and spent a term at
university studying architecture in Italy. My architectural education was a
true Renaissance education including studies in science (mostly physics)
history and visual arts. It inherently required the study of people
throughout the world, the way they live, think and express themselves
through their environment. It was a truly international experience.

As a practicing architect for over fifteen years I learned project
management and co-ordination skills which will be a benefit to me now in my
role as a co-ordinator of the IB program.

I became a teacher in order to further my interest in education and I am a
strong supporter of continuous learning. I have thoroughly loved my
experiences with the students and staff at Glenforest and have seen the
benefits that the IB program has brought to the school community. I hope
that those Glenforest students not currently in the IB program will take
advantage of the opportunity to earn a certificate in specific subjects. I
look forward to assisting the growth of the program and working with our
first graduating class.
