I am so excited to be returning to Mountview for my fourth year of teaching
grade 1&2! Before my arrival, I graduated with a degree in Drama from
Queens University. When I graduated I moved to California where I worked as
a singer/songwriter. The year prior to obtaining my teaching degree from
OISE/UT, I obtained my Lower Elementary Montessori Teaching Qualifications.
In my first year of teaching I worked as a primary grade 1/2 teacher at
Firgrove Public School, a Model Inner City TDSB school.
Whenever anyone asks me about my teaching pedagogy, I always reply that my
goal is to create a caring learning environment that promotes confidence,
creativity, and leadership.
I have a very structured program, lead by consistent and predictable
routines and expectations. It is my belief that when the program is set up
this way, the students are able to internalize the routines and go on to
lead them themselves. Here, everyone in the classroom at different times
takes on the role of a teacher and understand that we all learn from each
other.
Although my program is very structured, creativity and imagination are woven
into all of the classroom routines and activities. I have used my expertise
in music and drama to bring literacy, mathematics and science concepts to
life in my classroom and to foster the development of a positive community
environment.
If you have any questions about my program, please email on the link
provided!
Warm Regards,
Amy Craze
