Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are planning an overnight trip to Camp Iawah on September 29th and
30th for students in the Challenge Program. Camp Iawah is an outdoor
education centre/summer camp that is located between Westport and Godfrey.
Activities that we will be participating in include high and low ropes
courses, shelter and fire building, orienteering, archery, team building, and
leadership games. Parents and students should be aware that some of these
activities involve inherent risk, however, all appropriate safety precautions
are in place. This trip is an excellent opportunity for our students to
continue to develop their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
We will be leaving Odessa Public School at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday,
September 29th and returning by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30th. Please
arrange to pick up your child at this time. Students will need to bring a bag
lunch to eat on the first day. Please consult the attached “List of Things To
Bring” for other items that students will need. The cost for this trip will
be $108.00 per student. This includes transportation to and from Camp Iawah,
accommodation, three meals, and activity instructors. We will be sleeping in
the Main Lodge, which is heated. We have room for a small number of parent
supervisors at a reduced cost ($37.00 each). Please contact us if you are
interested, as you need to complete a CPIC in advance.
We don’t want any students missing this opportunity due to financial
reasons. Please contact one of us to set up a payment plan if it would
help. Please sign the “Guest Group Member Agreement” and the permission form
and return it to the school with payment by Monday, September 26th, 2011.
**All Parent Volunteers for any school trips require a CPIC. Please contact
the school to begin the paperwork, if interested.**
