Short Story/Creative Writing Contest of Canada:
Contest Entry Rules:
• 360 WORDS MAXIMUM
• Completed student entry form must be stapled to
the front of the work.
• Completed school entry form must be enclosed with
each envelope of entries.
• Work should be no more than 360 words.
(all work exceeding 360 words will be returned)
• Entries should be typed or neatly hand-written on
8 ½ ” x 11” paper.
• Please keep a copy of original work. Accepted work
is not returned.
• There are two age groups: 7-11 years and
12-18 years.
• One entry only per student (no limit to the
number of entries per school).
• Students must be between 7 and 18 years of age
at the time the piece of work is written.
• Young Writers whose work is accepted for
publication will be notified by letter. Unused work
will be returned to the school.

Creative Communication - Poetry Contest
POETRY CONTEST RULES
1. Students must be in school (public, private or home school) in
the United States or Canada.
2. Students can enter on their own or have a parent or teacher
make their entry.
3. All entries must be in English and be the original work of the
student.
4. Students can be in grades K-12 for the poetry contest.
5. You can write on any appropriate subject (No pro-violence, pro
drugs, etc)
6. Poems cannot be over 21 lines of text (blank lines between
stanzas are not counted).
7. Do not double space your entry.
EACH STUDENT CAN ENTER ONE POEM FOR EACH CONTEST. MULTIPLE
ENTRIES MAY DISQUALIFY YOU FROM THE CONTEST.
