With respect to home work, I usually never assign any, other than spelling words and books to read every night in the children’s book bags. However, though I always provide the students with more than enough time to finish their work in class, sometimes they need a little more time or may be distracted in class and not able to finish their work. In this instance I will send their work home to be finished. I realize that our lives can often be very hectic with after school activities, etc, therefore I allow two days for assignments to be completed and returned to school.
Every Monday the students are given a list of words to bring home and study for the week. I recommend that the students write out their words a few times each night and that they be given a practice test on Thursday night to see what words they need to practice more. Friday morning we will have our spelling test. (Books go home on Monday and must be returned on Friday) When their books go home the following Monday, please look at their mark from the week before and sign it.
