Homework

MATH
It is important that your child have quick recall of basic multipication
facts. Knowing these facts will help them when encountering difficult double
digit computations. Therefore each night, except for Friday, your child is
required to write out specific multiplication facts.

Each Monday your child will receive a math homework assignment that includes
a note to you and a sample problem. Included in the note are hints and short
reminders of how to work the math problems on the student page. There is
also a sample problem that we will have completed in class. You have the
week to complete the assignment with your child. Please help her or him with
the assignment, sign the page, and return it to school so that your child
will get credit for doing the work.

SPELLING
The word list is continued all month with new words added each week.
The words must be written out three times and used in sentences, each night
except for Friday. That day only the words spelled incorrectly on the
weekly test are written out three times. The following week the new words
and any words spelled incorrectly on the previous week's test are written
three times. Words spelled correctly on the previous test are written out
once. All new word are used in sentences. Using the word wall words in
sentences is a good way for the students to build up their vocabulary.
Please take some time to help them create more complex sentences.
