Dear Grade Four/Five Parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as your
child’s teacher. My name is Siobhan Clifford, and this is my sixfth year here
at Our Lady of Lourdes. I am very excited about starting our new school year
together and look forward to building our new Grade Four/Five family.
I am just beginning to get to know the students in our class, but I
can already see that this is a group filled with personality, energy, and
enthusiasm, and they seem ready to face the challenges of the year ahead. I
know that I am going to truly enjoy sharing my day with them, and I look
forward to getting to know each of them better as the year progresses.
Respect is an expectation for all of us in our classroom -- respect
for self, respect for peers, respect for the adults in the school, and
respect for the gift of education. The Grade Four/Five students will be
encouraged throughout the year to always give their best to themselves and to
their work. I will strive to create an environment where every child feels
safe enough to take risks, to be themselves, and to grow to their full
potential in all of their academic endeavors.
Thanks to an extremely generous donation from an OLOL family, our
classroom has the exciting opportunity of working with the latest in
educational technology -- a Smartboard. This is my fourth year with the
Smartboard, and it continues to impress me with its ability to motivate and
engage students. I have seen first-hand the impact this technology can have
on student learning and achievement. I feel quite fortunate to be able help
your child see its benefits too. I look forward to continuing to explore
the endless educational supports that this technology has to offer our
learning environment.
I am sure that by now you have heard a little about me from your
child, but I hope that I have an opportunity to meet or chat with many of you
at our parent barbeque on Thursday, September 16th. If you have any concerns
or questions about your child and his or her progress throughout the year,
please do not hesitate to call me here at the school (660-2775) or write me a
note. I hope that we can work in partnership to support your child’s
development and help make this a memorable and fabulous year.
Sincerely,
Siobhan Clifford
