HELLO TO ALL OF MY PARENTS...
Term one has flown right by. Soon, the Christmas break will be upon us. It is an opportunity for students to "re-charge" the batteries, so to speak. My experiences in the past 14 years of teaching have taught me that term two is always a challenging one with many assignments yet exciting too. And so, I encourage all students to plan and budget wisely!
Below I have included the open houses for the Secondary Schools in our area:
OPEN HOUSE INFORMATION
Eden High - Monday, January 11, 2010 - 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Governor Simcoe - Wed. January 13, 2010 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
Kernahan Park - Monday, January 11th - 6:30-8:00 p.m.

St. Catharines Collegiate - Wednesday, January 13, 2010 - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Sir Winston Churchill - Monday, January 11 - 7:00 pm
As always, I am always available to discuss or meet with you regarding any concerns you may have. Feel free to contact me to set up an appointment. I do prefer email contact as I am constantly checking this. Telephones are great but I usually do not check my messages until one or two days later. And so, if you would like to communicate via email, provide me with yours. My email link is found on the bottom the directory to the left.
I must admit that I approach grade 8 as a jumping off point for Secondary schooling. With that, I provide my students with a more hands off approach. I expect my students to develop a more independent approach and greater self advocacy to their schooling. I do expect students to seek out assistance when needed or catch up on any missed work.
Finally, student behaviour. I understand that students may not come to school willing to learn. But this does not allow them the right to disturb a class and in particular, the right of other students to an education. Time spent dealing with inappropriate behaviours is time taken away from educating your child. And in the end, who suffers?
Ok, that's all for now. Be sure to check this site often. It is update daily and usually I try to do this by 5. I hope you enjoy the site!
Thanks,
Adolfo Diiorio
