Welcome to the second year of the Early Learning Kindergarten Program! We know that it is going to be an exciting year. Throughout the school year our kindergarten learning team will consist of Miss Teresa Roelands (classroom teacher), Mrs. Ashley Smale (early childhood educator), Mrs. Sally McNichol (educational assistant) and Mrs. Lorraine Hallahan (coverage teacher). Of course, your child and family members are the most important members of this team. Together, we will share in the pleasure of watching your child learn and grow a great deal this school year. It is indeed a pleasure to have your child in our class. We are looking forward to working with you and your child.
A major focus of the Early Learning Kindergarten Program is to ensure that every child grows and develops in a number of interrelated areas - social, emotional, communication/language, cognitive and physical. The program will provide opportunities for learning, self-expression, self-regulation, and self discovery in a variety or areas. In addition, we aim to help children feel adequate in the world of school and to develop a positive attitude towards learning. Our hope is that school will be a happy and pleasant place where all students can learn and contribute. The children will be exposed to a variety of experiences and learning situations that will help their spiritual, cognitive, social, physical and emotional development. Together we can make a difference! You can help by sending us well-rested children with full tummies and a hug and a kiss still fresh on their minds. This sets the stage for a lovely day. We feel that open lines of communication between the parent, student, and teacher are the key to promoting an educational climate that is conducive to learning.
Please feel free to contact us at any time if there is a question or situation you would like to discuss. You will receive additional communication throughout the school year. Each day your child will bring home their communication book. Please check nightly for any notes from Miss Roelands, Mrs. Smale, or the school. The agenda will also be our communication book in which we welcome your questions, comments, or concerns. We will also use this book as a way of communicating with you.
