| Objective:
To assess students understanding of the overall curriculum expectations for
the three strands being reported on.
Expectations for Term 1:
Student contributes to classroom activities and group discussions by
expressing and responding to ideas and opinions clearly. Student reads
aloud, with expression, observing the rules of pronunciation and intonation.
Student writes short texts in a variety of forms, using appropriate language
structures.
Expectations for Term 2:
Student prepares and delivers oral presentations on a topic under study.
Student summarizes and explains the main ideas in informational materials
and gives supporting details. Student organizes information, using linked
paragraphs that convey a central idea and provide supporting details.
Expectations for Term 3:
Student creates short media works of some technical complexity, using
appropriate technologies. Student explains his/her interpretation of reading
materials, supporting it with evidence from the text and from his/her own
knowledge and experience. Student revises, edits, and proofreads his/her
writing in collaboration with others, focusing on grammar, spelling,
punctuation, and conventions of style.
