| Objective:
To assess students understanding of the overall curriculum expectations for
the five strands being reported on.
Expectations for Term 1:
Student demonstrates an understanding of the basic structure and function of
plant and animal cells. Student is able to formulate hypothesis, plan
procedures, use a compound microscope, compile quantitative data, and
present results and conclusions of investigations.
Expectations for Term 2:
Student investigates properties (e.g., viscosity) of fluids. Student
demonstrates an understanding of the properties and the buoyant force of
fluids. Student demonstrates an understanding of the factors that contribute
to the efficient operation of mechanisms and systems.
Expectations for Term 3:
Student demonstrates an understanding of how the earth’s water systems were
formed, the similarities and differences among them, and how they influence
the climate and weather. Student demonstrates an understanding of the
properties of visible light.
