Mass: how much something weighs
Capacity: how much something can hold

I am learning to estimate, measure and describe the campacity and mass of an object using non-standard units.
e.g. My journal has the same mass as 13 pencils
The juice can has the sam capacity of 4 pop cans.

Language Arts:


We are learning what a synonym is.-words that have the same or almost the same meaning.

L.I. We are learning wht a synonym is, we are learning how to use synonyms correctly in a sentence
S.C I know I am successful when: I can understand what synonyms are and how to  use each synonym in a sentence
Ex. of sentences with synonyms:
I was cold on a snowyn day.
I was chilly on the snowy day.

I am sick today.
I am ill today.

We are beginning  a new Reading Strategy . Asking Questions
We are learning to ask questions before, during and after reading to help understand what I heard being read. I am learning to use a q-chart to ask higher level thinking questions( answers that are not yes or no, or not in the text directly)
I know I am successful when: I can ask appropriate questions before, during and after a story. I canuse a q cahrt to help me make my question.
(Grade 2) I can anwer the questions using the text, others and my background knowledge

Examples of questions:
What if...
Why did...
I wonder: when, why, if , where, how, how

A  q chart is used to help ask higher order questions. The questions that start with when and will, why and would, and how and might are higher order questions. A q chart will be sent home for use soon.
