a.       Many items bought from last meeting including video camera, DVD, and fantastic classroom bags of playground equipment including outdoor balls, ropes, frisbees, footballs and scoops. Kids sign out each use. Still to be purchased are smaller classroom supplies and novel sets.

b.      Trish and Patricia came in to wash kindergarten toys. Thanks!

c.       Lots of recent great student events including: Twins Day; Valentine’s Day activities of mixed grades K-8 led by student teachers; Dance and basketball fun with grade 6-7-8’s combined with Collins Bay; Blue boxes in hallway of donations to support troops and Afghani kids; Girls basketball came in 3rd place today, boys play tomorrow; Grade 5-8 Ski Trip went very well; Now selling juice at lunch for .50; Officer Kenny, our community police rep, came and talked to the grade 5-8’s about cyber-bullying and to the K-4 about general street smarts and safety; The K-2 children enjoyed the snowplow visit; the students had their first lockdown drill which went well;

A SmartBoard is being installed into the lab; Storybook Adventures, an (amazing!) original musical written by Ms. Arrowsmith & Ms. Corsi will be performed next Tues afternoon for Holsgrove, Wed morning for Collins Bay and Wed March 5 at 7pm for parents – tickets are $3. Thanks to the teachers for making this happen!

e.       School Council Forum was moved to April 10. Everyone is welcome to attend this event at the board office. An expert in youth and pop culture will be speaking.

5)      Old Business

a.       Hot Lunch –Trish has done an analysis of profit. Hot dogs make the most money at 50% profit; pizza ranks second with .61 per slice; subs net .45 per slice and chicken fingers are the least profitable at .15 per order. Trish has called around other vendors for prices but nothing better so far. She is suggesting we drop one item based on profit/popularity and put pizza into second rotation. She will report back on other vendor options.

b.      Yearbook – Patti reported there is a severe shortage of photos and photo permission slips. She needs many more photos and will advertise for photos from past events and for people to cover upcoming events. Brenda offered to stage team photos. Donna offered to call parents who have not yet returned permission slips since there are 38 of them outstanding. Patti has 47 pre-orders (paid) which may be feasible if she gets enough business ads.

c.       Chuck E. Cheese – Tomorrow night (Feb 27). 15% of proceeds from Holsgrove diners comes back to school.

d.      Auction Event – a successful event netting Parent Council $3,000 less Colinda’s returns. Geni and Kathy are getting thank-you letters out.

6)      New Business

a.       Teachers’ Appreciation Event Friday March 28 – Kathy offered to organize since no one else is available but since she teaches that day, needs help serving and relieving teachers of yard/recess duty. It will be an Italian theme with Maria providing lasagna which Parent Council will pay for.

b.      Movie Night Fundraiser April 17 – Trish has a movie in mind and will check if it’s rated G. She will coordinate but wants help!

c.       Henderson Overflow Issue – Brenda informed us that there is a committee looking at options for students since Henderson is overcrowded. Collins Bay and Holsgrove are options and Colinda will be attending a meeting regarding this.

7)      Other

a.       Trish has two tubs of muffin batter left and it was suggested we make the muffins to sell at Movie Night. Trish agreed.

b.      Mr. Revelle asked about flag football. Brenda indicated it would be formed once the field was sufficiently dry.

8)      Adjourned before 8:00pm. Woohoo!
