The Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler written by E. L.
Konigsburg, won the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's
literature in 1968. This book is fiction. This book is about two kids named
Claudia and Jamie that run away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan
by train.

The two kids pack their clothes in instrument cases with some money and
spend some time living at the museum. Life is good until one day while they
are touring the museum they find a huge crowd around a new piece of art
supposedly done by Michelangelo. They get interested in the statue and try to
crack the mystery. They notice one night that a mark is on the silk cloth
where the statue stood, and it is a M. They research the topic and find that
the m is Michelangelo's mark. They then write a letter to the museum and told
them. It happens that the museum already knows. Then Claudia wants to go to
the ex-owner of the statue, her name is Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. So the two
kids go in a taxi and ride to her private home out of the city. When they
arrive they get cleaned up and soon go to work. They ask questions about the
statue and then they have one hour to find a file about the work of
Michelangelo to see if he made it or not, and Michelangelo did

This book was very good. I liked it a lot. The book had good description
because in the beginning of the book Claudia plans how she is going to run
away to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and not to somewhere but to someplace.
The book also had good characters because Claudia and Jamie are good thinkers
and solve the case. The book also had good pacing because when they nearly
find out who did the art work the chapter ends. The book had a good ending
because they find out that Michelangelo is the creator and they get to go
home. I think that this book was worthy of the Newbery award because it was a
exciting mystery that kept you reading till the end. I know that I would not
change one thing about this book.
