FEBRUARY - Christian Education Month
During the Sundays in February, Immanuel celebrates and recognizes the importance of Christian Education.  Like last year, each Sunday a different classroom will be in charge of helping serve during our church services.  They will be asked to help in several different ways such as singing, ushering, greeting, and serving snacks.  Our Sunday to serve is Feb. 26 with the PreK, 1st and 2nd graders.  The whole school does sing the last Sunday in Feb. during the 10:30am service.  This service is also special because it will recognize Immanuel Lutheran School's 10th Anniversary.  Stay tuned for more information.

Field Trip
We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to go to Michaelangelo's for a field trip.  Tanner's dad owns and works there, so he will be giving us a tour of the restaurant.  We will be going next Thursday, Feb. 16 at 10:00am.  We will need some help driving, so if you can help, sign up on the list outside the classroom.  Thanks to Tanner's dad, Tim!

Valentine party
We will have our Valentine party on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 11:00 - 11:30.  If you would like to bring something, please sign up on the list outside our classroom.  The children are encouraged to bring valentines for each child in the class. So no one gets left out, I sent home a class list - there are extras by the sign up in the hall!

100th Day Party
It's almost here!  The day we have been waiting all school year for!  Our 100th Day Party will be Thursday, Feb. 23.  Each child is asked to bring 100 of one kind of snack for our 100 day snack.  Please keep the item small for obvious reasons and bring them to school in a baggie.  We will toss them together and enjoy it at snack time.  Items like M&M's, pretzels, goldfish, cheerios, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, etc. work well.  Also, please remember to wash hands before counting items!

13th Letterbook Completed
We have completed our 13th letterbook.  The kinders are doing a fine job sounding out their words.  This is the hard stage, but the more practice they get, the better readers they become.  It will get easier!  Be sure to have him/her read the story Tug on pg.10-11 in the letterbook and also the word list on the yellow sheet in the Friday folder.  These words use only the 13 letters we have learned so far!  Practice, Practice!

Booklet titled Tug
Our 5th little story book with words came home this week.  Have your child read the story to you 3 times, sign it (on the neon sticker), and have him/her bring it back to show me.  (Reading these booklets also counts for Book It minutes!) Then he/she can choose from the treasure box!

Student of the Week
I had sent home a big poster titled "It's All About ___".  This is a fun project for you to do with your child.  I will hang the completed posters on the wall in the hallway for everyone to see and get to know your child.  I have assigned due dates for the children to bring them back to school.  These due dates are posted on my website under "Student of the Week Schedule."  Tanner's poster is hanging on the wall by Mrs. Dolan's classroom. Check it out!  Izsabella is due next on February 13th.

t  This year marks the 10th anniversary of Immanuel Lutheran School!
