 6TH GRADE PHYSICAL EDUCATION
AUFORT/STEWART


PRIDE in the Gym:
P:	Actively participate with a positive attitude, encourage others, and use positive 			
language.
R:	Follow the rules of the game or activity, listen to the teacher, and return all equipment to its 
appropriate place.
I:	Honestly report scores, injuries, and illnesses to the teacher.
D:	Use all equipment for its intended purpose.
E:	Always try your best in activities, challenges, and tests.  Be willing to help others.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:
1.  Arrive to class and be on your roll call number on time.
2.  Dress down in appropriate clothing for PE.
3.  Participate with a positive attitude.

OBJECTIVES:
Skill development through group and individual activities
		
Team Building
		Problem solving, working together with new people, participating in new 			
activities, and assessment and reflection

Learning new sports and fitness activities
		Positive attitude, participate with your best effort, and have a good time

Journaling 
		 Students will express goals in how they can improve or maintain their fitness levels

Fitness Components
		Muscular and strength endurance, flexibility, agility, and cardiovascular fitness
	
Fitness For Life
		Fitness Activity Days, Running, Circuit Training

DRESSING DOWN:
T-Shirts (long or short sleeve), shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirt, running shoes
Students will have 3 minutes to change and be in the gym
No jewelry or watches that could harm you or others
LOCKS:  
All sixth grade students receive a new lock.  This is their lock to keep and use while at Kennedy for 
their 6th, 7th, and 8th grade years.
If a lock is lost a student can purchase a new lock for $5 or a used lock for $2 from their PE teacher.

LOCKER ROOMS:
USED FOR CHANGING ONLY
NO FOOD OR DRINK
KEEP LOCKER ROOMS CLEAN 
NO AEROSOL DEODORANT

POWERADE MACHINES:
	STUDENTS CAN ONLY BUY DRINKS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL

TARDIES/DRESSING DOWN:
Students lose points for being late and not dressing down
Students are given 2 free no dresses and 2 free tardies.
On third no dress or tardy, appropriate consequences will be given.

MAKE UP RUNS:
Make up run sheets will be posted on Mrs. Stewart's office door.  Students who miss runs will have 
ONE WEEK to make up the run, unless a doctors note is provided, then student will receive the 
appropriate extension.  Runs can be made up before of after school.  Please arrange one day in 
advance as to when you  want to make up a run

GRADING:
Each student receives 10 points everyday for arriving to class on time, dressing down, and for 
participating with a positive attitude.

LETTER GRADES:
100-90%	= A
89-80%	= B
79-70%	= C
69-60%	= D
59% and below = F
