Welcome to 5th grade 

    We hope parents and students will use this website to keep current on 
the events in our class. Please go to the "News Flash" page and sign in your 
e-mail address to receive urgent announcements from our class. That is where 
I put last-minute info about field trips or any other short-term, late-breaking class news. 
 
 Course of study 2011 Our theme is "Ride the Wave"  
 Some of our areas of study in 5th are: Oceanography, Sound, Light, U.S. Geography,
Explorers, Colonies, The Revolutionary War, Our Constitution  
 
     Parents who have expertise in one of these areas, please contact Mrs. Houghton. 
We would love to have you participate in our study.

of urgent announcements. 
  Family Field Trips (yes, you get extra credit!): hikes through different neighborhoods, 
tidepools at the beach, Seaside Aquarium, Fort Clatsop, Champoeg, Mission Mill, 
"Wintering In", etc., etc. Students will write a paragraph or two about what they saw and learned.
