What are the M/T Red Bears (2 yr. old Toddlers) doing this month?

I can’t believe that I’m writing my final newsletter for this
school year. Time really does fly when you are having fun!

In April, we were extremely busy observing the signs of Spring,
talking about weather, learning about animals that live under the
sea and preparing for our Muffins with Mom celebration. I’m sure
you will hear them singing at home.

Muffins with Mom will take place on Tuesday May 8th at 9:30 for
the Red Bear class and Friday May 11th for the Blue Bear class.
We will sing a few songs, watch a special slide show, and eat
muffins of course! If you are unable to attend, please send a
love one in your place.

Our end of the year picnic will take place on Wednesday May 23th
at 11:00am at Mondauk Park. All family members are welcome! You
will have the opportunity to purchase lunch or you can bring your
own lunch with you. We hope to see everyone there!

During the last few days of class we will continue the fun and
games with our bugs, bees and butterflies theme. We get to watch
the transformation from caterpillar to a butterfly up close. We
will also be talking a lot about the season of summer to prepare
us for the months ahead.

We want to thank each and every one of you for everything you did
to make our class run smoothly throughout the year! This truly
was an amazing group of children and we will miss them greatly!
We hope to see everyone at AWNS again in September. Have a
fabulous summer!
Love,
Miss Anna & Miss Benita

What are the Rainbow Fish (3 yr. olds) doing this month?

The year has passed by very quickly, and it is hard to believe
this is the final newsletter. We plan to fill our class days in
May with as much excitement and learning as we can.

From now until May 11, the children will be working on preparations
for Mother’s Tea. There are projects to do and songs to learn,
so we will be busy! We look forward to hosting our moms and
grandmoms for Mother’s Tea on May 11 at 9:00am. It is a time for
you and your Rainbow Fish; siblings are not included!

For some extra excitement, caterpillars will arrive in our
classroom very soon. We will be watching them grow and make their
cocoons, and will talk about caterpillars, cocoons, and butterflies
for the next week or two in addition to our other projects. If
we are lucky,
there will be butterflies hatching out of their cocoons in our
room, and we will be able to watch them fly around in their
special house.

Each child will have Show and Tell one more time, on May 17.
They may bring anything they would like to share with the class
and would enjoy talking about. Our final Music class with Mr.
Pete will be on May 4.

During the final days of school, we will work on a small memory
book that we started in September, and make special Rainbow Fish
T-shirts to wear to the all school picnic.

The last regular school day will be Friday, May 18. After that,
we will look forward to seeing you at the all school picnic at
Mondauk Park on Wednesday, May 23 at 11am. A flyer will come home
with the details, and the opportunity to purchase a hot dog lunch.
All family members are invited! It is a good idea to bring extra
drinks along for your family.

We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know your children, and will
be sad to see them leave for the summer. They have all grown up
quite a bit over this school year. We are looking forward to
seeing many of them back in school in September, and hopefully
they will stay with us for Lunch Bunch from time to time!

Have a happy and safe summer. Your children are a joy; be sure to
savor these years with them.

Fondly,
Aleta Bossert and Sue Plunkett

What are the Busy Bees (older 3's & 4yr. olds) doing this month?

It is hard to believe that I am writing the final newsletter for
this school year! We are planning to fill these May days with
lots of fun and learning.

For the next two weeks, the children will continue to work on
preparations for Mother’s Tea. They will try to keep everything
they do a secret; don’t ask too many questions! We look forward
to hosting our moms/ special people for Mother’s Tea on May 8 at
9:20am. It is a time for you and your Busy Bee; siblings are not
included! You are welcome to invite grandmothers.

There will be a “your choice” Show and Tell on May 15, and we
will have music on May 8 and 22.

For some extra excitement, caterpillars will arrive in our
classroom very soon. We will be watching them grow and make their
cocoons, and will talk about caterpillars, cocoons, and butterflies
this month in addition to our other projects. If we are lucky,
there will be butterflies hatching out of their cocoons in our
room, and we will be able to watch them fly around in their
special house. Eventually, we will release them outdoors.

Although we have finished focusing on all of the letters of the
alphabet, we still have work to do on our ABC Books. We will be
completing them over the next few weeks. Please take the time to
sit down with your child and look through the ABC Book. They have
worked on it all year, and will be proud to show you their work.

The last regular school day will be Tuesday, May 22. During the
final days of school, we will make special Busy Bee T-shirts to
wear to the all school picnic which will be at Mondauk Park on
Wednesday, May 23 at 11am. A flyer will come home with the details,
and the opportunity to purchase a hot dog lunch. It is a good
idea to bring extra drinks for you and your children. Everyone
seems to get thirsty from all of the running around they do! We
look forward to seeing you at the picnic. If it rains, we will
meet at school. Come to the park unless you get a phone call!
All family members are invited!

We are very grateful to you for all of the work you did to make
the obstacle course event such a fun activity for the AWNS
children. Some of you even came back to help on Thursday when
your children did not have class.

We have come to feel close to your children, and have enjoyed
watching them grow and become friends during the year. They are
all different, and all wonderful. We look forward to seeing some
of them at school next year, and hopefully at Lunch Bunch with us!
Those who are not returning will be missed; please come back to
visit!

Have a wonderful and safe summer.
Fondly,
Aleta Bossert and Sue Plunkett

What are the Dinosaurs (older 4's) doing this month?

It’s hard to believe, but it’s May already! We’d like to thank
you for everything you’ve done to make this a most enjoyable
school year. From snacks to all of our requests, you’ve been
great. We truly appreciate all of your help.

And thanks so much for your support at Mother’s Day Tea – the
kids really enjoyed performing for everyone – what a difference
from the beginning of the year!

Right now we’re tying up loose ends. We’re in the process of
taking a “plain and boring” t-shirt and making it into something
special to wear to the picnic!

We’re pretty much on our own for this month. We’ll have only
visits from Mr. Pete - which is always lots of fun.

We’ll be finishing the alphabet throughout the month – just Y and
Z! Then we’ll send home our alphabet books and you can see all
of the hard work we have been doing.

And don’t worry about signing up for snack – we have a birthday
scheduled for each day except Mother’s Day tea!! We have a lot
of summer birthdays and we hate to miss celebrating any one of
them!!!

Please note that the year-end picnic is scheduled for Wednesday,
May 23. Come to Mondauk Common on Susquehanna Road at 11:00 am
and you can play on the playground and then enjoy a picnic lunch.
The parent reps have a really good deal on a bagged lunch if
you’re interested – otherwise, bring your own. If weather forces
us indoors, the picnic will be held in Fellowship Hall and you
will be notified by a phone chain.

Miss B. and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you
for sharing your child with us during this past school year. We
truly enjoyed meeting your remarkable young individuals and hope
that we have given them a good start on their journey through
education. We know that we have taught them to look at things in
a different way and that learning can be fun!
Thank you,

Mrs. Pickell and Miss B.

What are the Pre-K Terrific Turtles doing this month?

It is so hard to believe that our year together is almost at an
end. We have enjoyed working with your children so very much.
Thank you for sharing your precious gift with us this year.

We plan to close out the year with an emphasis on our mothers and
the nature all around us.

MAY HIGHLIGHTS
MOTHER’S TEA – Thursday, May 10th – 9:00 – 9:30 AM
Please note that our Mother’s Tea will be held during school hours.
We will begin our program promptly at 9:05 AM. We will have a
special program of songs and bells for you; a yummy snack and
then a video of all the fun times we have had in the Turtle Class.
Since this is a special day for your and “your Turtle” we ask
that you make other arrangements for siblings. We will resume
our normal class activities at 9:30.
Please mark your calendars now!

PAINTED LADY BUTTERFLIES –

We will have 5 caterpillars in our class so we can watch them go
thru the stages until they are butterflies. After they have
“hatched” from their cocoons, we will watch them in their
butterfly house for a few days and then release them outside.

We will do our last letter – “Xx” - this week and then send our
completed ABC books home. We will NOT be doing “Xx” homework!

ADIOS AMIGOS
The children have been doing such a great job with their Spanish.
We will be breaking open a piñata as part of our Summer Birthday
celebration on Tuesday, May 22nd. Please check the snack board
for the piñata sign up.

MAY SCIENCE.....
~ Symmetry (as in butterfly wings)
~ BUGS! BUGS! BUGS!
~ Evaporation (we’ll paint the sidewalk and try to figure out
where the water went)

Ambler Weekday End of School Family Picnic
Mark May 23rd on your calendar for this fun gathering to end the
school year. The picnic is held at Mondauk Commons in Upper
Dublin. Look for the information sheet coming home from your
Parent Reps. If you don’t want to pack lunch for you and your
children, you have the option to purchase a lunch for $2/ each.

Just a reminder, it is usually hot the day of the picnic so pack
extra water or juice for your children.

Our very best wishes for a safe, healthy, and fun filled summer
to all the Terrific Turtles and their families. Thank you so
much for all the wonderful ways you have shown your support and
caring this year. Don’t forget to come back and visit!
