EXPOSITION

·      Setting

·      Character information

·      Background knowledge

·      Hints of conflict

 

Conflict:

RISING ACTION  

·      Ideas or events related to the conflict that add tension and or suspense

·      Often are the main character trying to solve the problem

 

 

CLIMAX

·      The high point of tension in the story

·      Generally, when the reader finds out how the story will end

 

 

FALLING ACTION

·      Very brief part of the story

·      Ideas & or events where tension is decreasing

·      ALWAYS follows the climax

 

 

RESOLUTION

o   Wraps up the story

o   May clearly show a solution (closed ending) or leave that open to the reader to interpret (open ending)

o   Main character may have learned a lesson
